A Grace Place was founded in 1967 by Louis Michaux, a gentleman whom struggled with severe cerebral palsy most of his life. Louis knew that he did not want to create a “day care” for those with disabilities so he took a different approach. His goal was to provide a place more ordinary where people with disabilities could go to socialize and still receive the assistance they needed with daily living activities while remaining independent. His extraordinary approach remains our model today and includes the coordination of family caregivers, doctors, therapists, case managers, Medicaid, transportation, and group homes. The outcome is positive and everlasting.
